Sponsored Charity Walk – 8th May between Kiverton Park Railway & Worksop

We are doing a sponsored walk to raise money for the High Hopes Riding for the Disabled Charity, we would love people to join us. However, if you are unable to join us on the walk we ask if you can help us by obtaining sponsorship for the charity using the attached sponsorship form.

Alternatively one of our members has set up a crowdfunding page to aid collecting money  so you could contribute via that page whilst we wait to set up our own online donation options.

OUR TARGET IS TO RAISE £1,000 and with your help we can achieve it.

The 6/7 mile canal walk is being held on Sunday 8th May 2016 between Kiveton Park Railway Station and Worksop, starting at Kiveton Park Railway Station S26 6PB, please aim to arrive between 10.30am and 11am for an 11am start. Some parking is available on a side road called Manor Road. There are a few points for refreshments we pass a tea and ice cream cabin at Turnerwood as well as a few ‘pubs’ on the route.

If you wish to leave a car at the finishing point, a good place is the Priory Centre  Worksop S80 1JR where there is a Pay and Display car park, a few cars will be available at the Priory Centre from 10.20am to 10.45am to ferry people who want to leave their cars there at the finishing point, to take them to the starting point of the walk at Kiveton Park Railway Station. Should you wish to travel back from the walk in style! there is also a limited train service between Worksop and Kiveton Park Railway Station the earliest train from Worksop is 3.01pm, tickets are, Adult £4.10 and Child £2.05, the station is approximately 600 metres from the end of the walk in Worksop.

Should anyone with a wheelchair like to join us on the walk, I recommend joining the walk at Shireoaks (Shireoaks to Worksop is approximately 3 miles) because the path between Shireoaks and Worksop has been surfaced and there is no possibility of any muddy patches as there is on the stretch between Kiveton Park Station and Shireoaks.

All sponsorship money can be posted FAO Martyn Goodhand to High Hopes RDA, New Holme Farm, Barnsley Road, Thorpe Hesley, Rotherham S61 2RR, please make cheques available to High Hopes RDA. Cheques to be payable to High Hopes RDA.

The walk is part of the Chesterfield Canal Walk and will start at Kiveton Park Railway Station then to Hawk Wood near Thorpe Salvin, Turnerwood, Shireoaks, Rhodesia and then finishing at Worksop.

Directions – Kiveton Park Railway Station is close to the M1 J31 – take the A57 and then at South Anston take the B6059 to Kiveton and Kiveton Park Railway Station is just before the village.

To get to Worksop take the A57 and park in the Priory Centre which is close to the canal path.
